ITINERARY:

We hope that our weekend guests will be able to join us late on Friday afternoon to start the weekend. On arrival you will be shown to your room and given time to settle in. After light refreshments you will be invited to meet the horses. After a chat about your riding ability and experiences if it is felt necessary, we will then take you on a short ride around our land at Longham so you can get used to the horses and so we can assess which guest may be suited to which horse. This will probably take up to an hour after which our guests will be invited to put their own horse to bed and feed it before joining Ellen and Dave in the farmhouse kitchen for a hearty 3 course meal with wine to complement each course. Over dinner we can discuss where you would like to ride the next day as we can go wherever our guests would like to go providing their ability, experience and level of fitness allows.

On Saturday morning either a traditional English or a continental style breakfast will be served at a pre-arranged time. We will then load the horses on the lorry and set off to our pre arranged destination. This journey will take about half an hour, travelling through some of Devon's most beautiful countryside. On arrival we will set off for the day riding at different paces to suit the varying terrain. Dave will be your guide and he will be able to give you information about the wildlife in the area through which you are riding. We will either stop at a pub for refreshment after a couple of hours, or Ellen will meet us with a picnic. After the break it's off again and we will ride back towards our lorry. The route will depend on how our guests are feeling. We have found that the average length of time anyone wants to be in the saddle is about 4 hours per day. When we get back to the lorry we will have further refreshments before winding our way back to Longham.

On arrival at the farm our guests will be invited to put their own mount to bed and to feed it before retiring for a relaxing bath or shower prior to our evening meal.

Our second day's riding will follow the same format as the first, but taking a different route, after which our guests will return to Longham for afternoon tea before leaving late afternoon.

WE HOPE THAT OUR GUESTS WILL HAVE HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME THAT THEY WILL WANT TO JOIN US AGAIN.
